How Floreant POS Succeeded in Paraguay’s Largest Luxury Store
Monalisa Paraguay deployed a deeply customized Floreant POS integrated with ADempiere ERP — handling multi-currency retail, fiscal receipt control, and serial ticket generation across a high-volume luxury department store in the Triple Border region.
The Business
Monalisa is one of the most prominent luxury department stores in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay — a city at the heart of the Triple Border shopping region shared by Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. Known as a major premium retail destination, Monalisa carries international brands and serves a large cross-border customer base drawn from all three countries.
This is not a typical single-currency, single-market retail environment. Ciudad del Este is a cross-border commercial hub where shoppers, vendors, and financial workflows operate across multiple currencies and regulatory frameworks. Any POS system deployed here has to handle that complexity natively — not as an afterthought.

Why a Standard POS Was Not Enough
The project began in 2017, when Juan Carlos YJ Lin, an IT leader from Monalisa and a Red Hat specialist, visited OROCUBE’s East Coast office. That visit became the turning point: instead of treating POS as an isolated checkout tool, the team decided to use Floreant POS as a customizable platform, centrally integrated with ADempiere ERP across all stores.
Off-the-shelf POS products could not meet Monalisa’s requirements. The store needed a system capable of handling:
- Multi-currency retail — Pricing and payment in different currencies, exchange-rate handling at the time of sale, and accurate settlement back into the ERP
- Fiscal receipt control — Compliant tax receipts with serial control, form/resolution identification, and traceability for Paraguayan regulatory requirements including SIFEN
- Serial ticket generation — Every receipt uniquely identifiable, sequentially generated, auditable, and synchronized with store and back-office records
- Time-sensitive business logic — Correct handling of business dates, shift control, exchange rate timing, and ERP synchronization across stores
Fiscal Receipt Compliance
In Paraguay, retail systems must produce controlled, traceable sale documents. Compliance frameworks require authorized form and serial number identification, and under the SIFEN electronic invoicing regime, authorized taxpayers must issue invoices and receipts through registered systems.
The customized Floreant POS generates fiscal receipts that include the store’s legal identity, tax registration (RUC), form and serial resolution numbers, sequential ticket numbers, and itemized transaction details — all in compliance with Paraguayan fiscal requirements.

The Solution
Floreant POS was deployed as a customizable core platform, engineered around Monalisa’s exact operational reality:
- ADempiere ERP integration — Central integration across all stores for unified inventory, accounting, and reporting
- Multi-currency POS — Native handling of pricing, payment, and settlement across currencies used in the Triple Border market
- Paraguayan fiscal compliance — Serial-controlled tax receipts with form/resolution tracking, meeting SIFEN and national regulatory requirements
- Sequential transaction integrity — Every ticket uniquely numbered, sequentially generated, and audit-ready
- Time management — Business date handling, cashier shift control, and timestamp accuracy for exchange rates and ERP sync
- Multi-store deployment — Consistent operation across Monalisa’s retail locations
The Results
ERP-integrated deployment
Cross-border retail
Fiscal compliance
Running in production
The business impact extends well beyond the checkout counter. The customized deployment delivers:
- Fewer accounting mismatches through automated ERP synchronization
- Accurate multi-currency settlement and reporting
- Stronger auditability through serial ticket control
- Reduced compliance risk with regulated fiscal receipts
- Eliminated manual correction work between POS and back-office systems
- Consolidated reporting across all store locations
In a large retail chain operating in a multi-currency border economy, errors in currency handling, receipt reconciliation, and store-to-ERP workflows compound quickly. The customized Floreant POS prevents these losses — which is why, when properly engineered for the client’s reality, Floreant POS can save a business several million dollars over time.
Givex Integration
The Floreant POS deployment was also integrated and certified with Givex, connecting the system to enterprise-grade gift card, loyalty, and stored-value capabilities. This meant the customized deployment was not only locally compliant with Paraguayan regulations, but also enterprise-ready for broader retail integrations.
“Surprisingly, Floreant POS is running on thin clients with very low resources — very well, very smoothly. That was one of the things that impressed us most.”
Tecnología de la Información, MONALISA Internacional SA
When a POS platform is open, extensible, and properly customized, it stops being just a checkout tool — it becomes the operational backbone of the business.
Why Floreant POS Worked
Monalisa’s success did not come from using Floreant POS out of the box. It came from using Floreant as a customizable platform and engineering it around the client’s exact needs — multi-currency operations, fiscal compliance, ERP integration, serial transaction integrity, and multi-store coordination. That is what separates an open platform from a locked-down product: the ability to solve the problems that actually matter to the business.
